Wow... I hate to be the voice of reason on this one but it was fabricated. All you need to do is watch the tail of the snake--it never moves. A "Rattle Snake" must move its tail to make the rattle sound, and it never moves. It never moves period.

Secondly you can recognize the "Snake Handler" as one of the normal backstage crew. A heavy set man with a ponytail.

I killed 3 snakes on my property this week.

The first was coiled up under an old blanket in my toolshed.

The second and third were, um, copulating. Looked like a 2-headed snake.
Maybe they were just dancing.

A huge clue to its 'fakery' that people seemed to have missed is that they never said what type of snake it is! I think it was pretty clever, when Jimmy asks what it is, the guy responds that its dangerous, and its name is Carl. Wow. Also, the concept of a snake with a leash is pretty damn funny.

This bit would have gone over MUCH better if it were aired on april fool's day.

I've spent 3 years in emergency medicine now. I'm in a ER now but i did about 2 years in prehospital care. While it wasn't a perfectly realistic performance by the fakey medics but i thought it was better then the normal TV medical crap i see.

"Why would a crew already be there?" i've done a ton of medical stand-bys' for TV shoots, its for legal and insurance reasons when anything even semi risky is happening. Hell i've done medical stand bys in the past for american Idol, the grammy, and other really tame (and lame) events, they just want us there incase.

I.V. lines can really go anywhere there is a vein. Your right the most common and perferred site is the ante cubital (frontside of the elbow). In that case i think most medics would have tried to get to the AC first but its not unheard of to start a line in someones hand or wrist, happens a lot. A few months ago i had a lady in the ER taht had no veins left on her arms to use and her legs were both amputated so i started a line on her breast (ouch!) but hey, what ever works.

On the O2...i would call total bullshit if they hadn't put him on O2. With respiratory depression from the venom and the airway swelling that could occur, it would be retarded not to have him on O2 ASAP. I'm more impressed they really turned on the O2, most shows leave it off, i think cause it is considered a drug (lame, i know). You can tell when they don't turn it on cause the mask will fog up with no air flow.

Ya they missed a lot of things but really nothing that had my looking at the medics screeming "omg faaake!". If it was real they just would have been asking more questions and would have done a few more things on scene. I think the medic was a real medic and not just an actor, they looked like they knew how to use the equipment.

Maybe i'm a little too critical of TV medicine but too many times i see the TV medics do really retarded things. Like at the end of diehard 2 when they put him in the back of the ambulance alone and the 2 medics get in the front seats and drive off.... 

So is anybody going to post a link to a legit new source that either says that it's fake or not?

Jimmy actually DID get bit by that snake, it was at real as it comes. First of all, you could tell how serious that snake was, it was pulling that handler's arm around!!! That validate's that it was a real snake.

Now as for this Grey's Anatomy set-up theory, have you people even seen Jimmy Kimmel before?!?! He's a smart guy! After he got bit by that snake, I bet he was the one who pitched it to the producers to finish the show in the hospital, since actor-doctors were going to be on the show anyways!! GENIUS!!!!!

oh my god i can't believe people were actually fooled by this? lol! i could see if the snake looked real maybe, or if you had never seen Jimmy's show and didn't know who he was or what his sense of humour was like, but come on! the "Snake" is soooo fake, it looked like a freaking stuffed animal lol. The only movement by it is from the guy holding the little stick tied to it who is waving it around, it's not even slightly real, man there are some gullible people.
